Arroyo Colorado

March 31, 2005

Howdy Arroyo Partners,

I am back in the saddle and happy to report what is going on in our Arroyo Colorado Watershed Protection Plan (WPP) process!

Earlier this week, Roger Miranda and I met with four municipalities and one public utility in the upper Valley and watershed. These meetings provided an opportunity for "one on one" communications with the exchange of valuable information and insight. All five entities pledged support of our Arroyo WPP and we thank them for their time and participation! The next Wastewater Infrastructure Work Group meeting is to be announced. My last update stated that the work group meeting would be held on April 13th. That meeting is being postponed in order to for us to provide better funding information. Tentatively, we are looking towards the end of April or early May. We will let you know when that meeting has been scheduled.

Last week we participated in the International Museum of Art and Science (IMAS) 2005 Water Symposium and Exposition: Water for Life. Our community is very fortunate to have IMAS and their "Smart About Water" Project. We are working with them to develop a watershed-based curriculum for Valley schools which will focus on the Arroyo Colorado Watershed. We all live in a watershed and many thanks to IMAS for getting the word out! For more information contact me or Ginette Garcia, IMAS, at (956) 682-1564 ext. 106,

Another education opportunity is the Wonders of Wetlands (WOW) training to be held May 14th and 15th. Deadline to register is April 28th. See the attached registration form or contact Donna Berry at (956) 546-0547,, for more information.
