Arroyo Colorado

October 27, 2006

Arroyo Partners,

First of all, I would like to introduce Mark Lingo, Lower Laguna Madre Biologist, representing Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as a new Steering Committee member. Mark replaces Randy Blankinship who has taken a new job position as Highly Migratory Species Coordinator with the National Marine Fishery Service (NOAA Fisheries Service) in St. Petersburg, Florida. Best wishes and many thanks to Randy for this dedicated work here in the Lower Rio Grande Valley and for his participation in our watershed Partnership!

Well, it is finally here, a draft of "A Watershed Protection Plan for the Arroyo Colorado, Phase I" is now available on www.arroyocolorado.org. A link is provided on the right side of the homepage highlighted by "New:" in red. The plan can be downloaded as a MS Word document so that "track changes" may be used for any comments and/or suggested edits. Unfortunately, photos, figures, and graphs were not included in this draft because it would increase the size of the document to where it might not be easily sent via most email accounts. We are still working to improve this document so feel free to review and provide comments to me at lauradlg@tamu.edu by Friday, November 17, 2006, and please copy jbenavides@utb.edu with ARROYO PLAN COMMENTS in the subject line.

Have a great weekend,

Laura
