Happy New Year Arroyo Partners!
We are starting the New Year with a completed watershed protection plan for the Arroyo Colorado!!! This is truly exciting because we can now focus on plan implementation. A Watershed Protection Plan for the Arroyo Colorado - Phase I is now available in its entirety on the Arroyo Colorado website, www.arroyocolorado. You can access it off the homepage or go to horizontal taskbar and click on "Watershed Info." and then to the side taskbar and click "Data and Reports" for the plan and all of the supporting documents. The plan is at printers and paper copies will be available January 30th at the Pachanga for the Arroyo Colorado. This event is to celebrate the joint efforts of our Partnership and the completion of the plan. You as part of our Partnership are invited to this event. It will be held in the City of Weslaco Municipal Building from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Lunch will be provided and therefore you must RSVP to me by January 22, 2007. Elected officials, community and business leaders have been invited and we will also extend invitations to the media.
Also planned for January 30, 2007, is a Habitat Work Group meeting from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and a Steering Committee meeting from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Both of these meeting will be held in the Rio Red Classroom of the TAMUK Citrus Center, 312 N. International Blvd., Weslaco, Texas 78596. We are working on those agendas and will send them out before the meetings.
This upcoming year looks promising in regards to improving the quality of water in the Arroyo Colorado and moreover, movement towards thriving environments and economies for communities in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Come out and celebrate with us on January 30, 2007. Again, please let me know if you plan to attend.
