Great news - we have a new watershed coordinator! Jaime Flores joined the team on October 6 and has already been busy learning about all that we have going on and what is yet to be done. Please welcome Jaime as you see him out and about in the watershed. Here is Jaime's contact information:

One of your first opportunities to meet Jaime will be this Thursday (October 23) at our next Steering Committee Meeting. Please join us from 5 to 7 pm at the Rio Red classroom at the Texas A&M University Kingsville Citrus Center, 312 N. International Blvd. A social with snacks and refreshments will begin at 4:30 p.m. A full agenda is attached. Workgroup updates, milestones achieved so far in our efforts and a presentation on the status of the SWAT Modeling project will all be topics of discussion.
I encourage you all to attend the Texas Watershed Stewards Training Course to be held on November 20, 2008 from 8 AM to 4 PM at the TAMUK Citrus Center in Weslaco. The Texas Watershed Steward Program is a FREE one-day educational workshop designed to help you become more aware and involved in your local watershed activities. Additionally, the workshop will provide CEUs for certified planners, crop advisors, professional engineers, educator certification, pesticide applicators and certified floodplain managers. The annual CREST-RESSACA Conference focusing on Lower Rio Grande Valley Storm Water Runoff Pollution Prevention Planning will be held on November 24-25 at the La Copa Inn Resort in South Padre Island, TX. The conference will introduce current issues related to TPDES Storm water regulations, the TCEQ MS4 TPDES Program and urban non-point source pollution. The Arroyo Colorado Partnership will be represented there by Jaime Flores and the physical watershed model will also be demonstrated at the conference.
