September 17, 2013
Hello Arroyo Partners:
There has been a drastic change in the weather here in the RGV. Things began to change on September 2, 2013 when a tropical disturbance formed in the Gulf of Mexico. Tropical moisture began streaming in from the Gulf triggering numerous thunderstorms and showers. This pattern continued as the disturbance strengthened into Tropical Depression #8 and made landfall near Tampico, Mexico September 6, 2013. All of this activity continued to trigger showers and thunderstorms all weekend and into the next week when another tropical depression strengthened into Hurricane Ingrid. Hurricane Ingrid made landfall on Monday, September 16, 2013 near La Pesca, Mexico. The RGV has received between 4-6 inches of rain in that time with more rain in the forecast. The majority of the rain from these two storms has gone into the mountains of Mexico that feed into the Rio Grande River watershed. It will take a couple of weeks to see how much of this rain makes it into Rio Grande River and the Amistad and Falcon Reservoirs. Meanwhile, another disturbance has formed in the Gulf and has a 60% of forming into a tropical depression over the next 4-6 days. I will keep you posted.

All of this rain has kept me from fishing but I was able to do a little white wing hunting. Boy, those birds are fast. I went through a whole box of shells before I was able to start leading them correctly!
